Social Workers Welcome!

Thanks for checking out Gracing Spaces! When requesting home goods please contact us at least a week in advance, and keep in mind home make-overs happen about once a month. Please contact us by using our email address found on our “Contact” page, or using the contact form below. Read the information below and provide us with the following:

1. Most important:

  • The Social Worker will make a home visit.

  • If possible take a picture of client’s new space.

  • Check before making the family’s wish-list and just before the work day, to see if there has been a change in the family’s belongings.

  • We work hard to provide just what is needed. If the home is already full of furniture, we cannot leave the items we have hand-picked for the family. When mistakes like this happen, it is a disappointment for our volunteers.

  • If the family has already moved in, the apartment must be picked up and ready for the volunteers to move in the furniture.

2. Family Needs:

  • Family Size, ages, gender and optional ethnic background

  • Favorite colors & interest

  • Address and floor plan if possible (i.e. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom)

3. Transport of Goods, HELP Needed:

  • Reserve and provide a cargo van or truck or size appropriate vehicle to carry some the furniture to the home and be at the loading location to help start loading the trucks

4. For Wednesday requests for pickup:

  • The above rules apply

  • Send us an e-mail at least one week in advance

  • The client or organization will provide an appropriately sized vehicle for the items requested

  • We ask that the social worker come to the loading location and take part in the loading of the vehicle

  • The wish list has been fulfilled and no new or additional requests will be honored on pick-up day. The social worker will inform the client of what to expect before they arrive

  • Because of liability, Clients are not able to go into the loading storage location but can help load items with their social worker

  • Smaller loads including clothing will be requested in the same fashion

We trust that when we receive a wish list the need is true.
